I got this to put snaps in baby clothes and cloth diaper liners. I've alsobused it for my own clothes and a few small projects.I wasn't expecting too much because of how much more affordable it was, as opposed to other options. Two words: Pleasantly surprised. The kit comes with a reamer and a screwdriver (i use to latter to pry open misplaced snaps), as well as extra rubber fittings for the press. Installation is fairly straight forward and the press requires very little pressure, a child could easily use this. The snaps themselves go on and stay on. I have thrown liners and clothes in the wash and put them through the dryer multiple times and they don't show signs of lossening or pulling at the fabric( so far).
Obviously you don't just want to rip them apart haphazardly when unsnapping whatever they are attached to, but you don't have to be. Was loaned one of these by a friend, used it to replace a button that had popped off my jeans. Wore it extensively for a year before the jeans wore through and it popped off and got lost.
Borrowed another one for a pair of shorts. I decided to buy a replacement set of my own when I found them on Amazon. Very handy and works better than my lame attempts at sewing on my own buttons. I either break the thread or the buttons themselves break. I'll be keeping a few in my travel kit in case I lose a button while travelling.
Metal Snap Buttons
Would be 5+ stars if a couple of them were slightly bigger for the stretched out button holes in my old jeans, but they work well. They even work for the 'Thanksgiving Stress' that I put on my pants. Pieces snap together very securely: the big ones took a bit of effort to get apart, but could still be separated by hand with just a little use of fingernails. Note that there are separate 'female' and 'male' halves, and it's easy to mistake former for the latter: if you can't get them to snap together, you probably have two females.
You can mix and match the black and silver; they all snap together the same regardless of color.Sticks well to superglue. The black ones are painted. The paint doesn't come off easily (I doubt it would chip with regular wear & tear), but it does chip if exposed to acetone, and a few tiny flakes came off when I snapped them open and closed repeatedly to loosen them up. If you need to repair some snap buttons, this is a good way to go. I went to dress makers, tailors and alteration businesses and could find no one to replace the snaps on my fine wool coat, so I decided to do it myself. WARNING: You have to use the proper tool, also made by this company, on these snaps. I have also reviewed the tool. One issue I had is that this is shipped by a third party. I ordered the brass-colored snap kits and they sent me nickel-colored.
I called Amazon to complain and they credited 25% back to me as an inducement not to return them. How can you say no to that?
Snap Buttons
I wanted brass but the nickel were just fine. Due to the mis-shipping issue, I took off one star.
But the product is good quality and I recommend this. And don't forget the.
Lots of Buttons was founded to help crafters and clothing makers find the materials they need at the lowest prices. Most crafters and designers can't access the buttons they want if theylive in a small city, are looking for a rare button, or don't have the time to look through many stores. Buttons are hard to find! They're also expensive, as keeping enough buttons in a retail location toallow people to find what they want is costly. Lots of Buttons is the cheapest button store online by far, typically selling at 50% off other stores.Lots of Buttons also makes it her prime mission to educate people about saving the environment by finding the lost button, rather than scrapping an item of clothing. Our team alsodelights in assisting charities and communities with materials and gifts for projects involving crafting, sewing and making clothing for and with people in disadvantaged situations.Through the 'Buy a Button, Give a Button' program, Lots of Buttons seeks to provide communities, churches and charities with creative materials.
